This presentation (slides w/ narration) from Microsoft Research’s Fourth Crash Course for Faculty and PhD students discusses best practices for writing secure code and Microsoft threat modeling designs.
Crash course attendees were provided with an in-depth understanding of the latest developments in terms of Microsoft’s software engineering (including the exposure of some internal tools and methodology), web services, writing of secure code, and .NET specific enhancements.
Course materials stress the practical and technical details that are of interest to computer scientists and in particular that are important to be able to use the products for research and development.
Attendees were faculty, post docs, or be working towards a PhD in Computer Science. Attendees were expected to be proficient at a modern programming language and to have a good understanding of issues related to software engineering. It is not necessary to have Microsoft Windows programming experience.
